    Mechanical Design Engineer (AI Fluent)

    EngineeringHybridFull-time Closes 31 Aug 2026

    About the role

    About Drafty AI

Drafty AI turns 3D CAD models into production-ready 2D manufacturing drawings. We are SOLIDWORKS-native and process everything in-tool, so a customer's geometry never leaves their machine. Our engine pairs a deterministic rules layer with machine learning to produce release-ready drawings, flat patterns, bills of materials and exports, and to flag only the drawings that genuinely need a person.

We are early, backed by RudraX, and already running pilots with UK manufacturers. This is a chance to build the core of the product, not to maintain someone else's.

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with an interest in emerging AI technologies. The ideal candidate will design and develop mechanical systems and products while leveraging AI-powered engineering tools to improve design quality, productivity, simulation, and documentation.

    What you'll do

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and complete products from concept through production. • Create detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation. • Do thorough review of designs generated by our product - Drafty AI and provide feedbacks on improvement • Collaborate with AI tools, and software product teams during product development. • Support prototyping, testing, design verification, and product improvements. • Ensure AI designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing constraints. • Participate in design reviews and implement feedback throughout the product lifecycle. • Optimise designs for manufacturability, cost, reliability, and further improvements as required for product development • Utilise AI-assisted tools provided by the company to accelerate accelerate product development and design completions, • Stay informed about advancements in AI applications within mechanical engineering and recommend opportunities for adoption.

    What we're looking for
